3 Reasons why the perfect cup of coffee is so important

According to recent studies, employees drink 3 cups of coffee a day on average. There are many reasons for the excessive amount of coffee a day, but most people drink coffee for three main reasons: they need energy, the social aspect and/or it's a part of their routine. But what happens if they are drinking sub-par coffee during the day?

Let's examine the negative affects you have to go through if your coffee sucks:

Increased Levels of Moodiness

If your coffee tastes bad, it's a rough start to the day. First thing most of your coworkers do when they get in is grab a cup of coffee, before they start work and in most cases before they interact with anyone in the office. So what happens if the first thing they do in the morning is ruined? The rest of their day is ruined as well. If your coffee tastes horrendous, no one will drink it causing them to be frustrated that they had to start their day off in that way, are under caffeinated and will most likely suffer a headache. Your morning cup of coffee simulates a release of dopamine making your coworkers happy, but if they don't get their daily dose, they don't get their daily dopamine release causing them to be moody. Prevent your coworkers from being moody, make good coffee.

decreased Productivity

If your coffee doesn't taste good, your coworkers won't drink it which leads to them being severely under caffeinated. When they are under caffeinated, they are falling asleep at their desk and their work product is not nearly as good as it could have been. If their work product isn't good, it forces others to pick up their slack which leads to unsatisfied clients. Unsatisfied clients lead to lost clients, lost revenue and a poor work environment. So save your clients, your productivity and fun work environment, and make your coffee taste good!

Fatter Coworkers

We work in an office environment where majority of us eat healthy, enjoy working out and living an overall healthy lifestyle. Coffee is an aiding factor in our skinniness - it helps you lose weight faster and gives you the energy to go to the gym. However, if the coffee tastes bad, your coworkers won't drink it, resulting in less energy to workout and increased weight gain. Weight gain can cause a lot of health problems but as Dwight Schrute famously said, “Obese people in my office are a drain on resources. Chairs wear out faster, it takes more Freon to keep them cool, they flush the toilets more often, plus their massive BMs bust the rivets on my pipes.” So save your CEO some money, and your coworkers some health problems and make sure your coffee tastes good.

Coffee is such an instrumental part of business, in and outside of the workplace. Improve your office etiquette and by not only ensuring your coffee tastes good, but by knowing when it is appropriate to make a full pot. Because what's just as bad as your horrible coffee? When you made an entire pot at 4pm for yourself and left it to sit overnight, causing the first person in to deep clean the pot before brewing a fresh pot.
